Ecotourism is a responsible way of travelling, where the tourist visits and stays in a country keeping and respecting the natural environment and the place culture, supporting and co-operating to the economical growing and to the well-being of the local population.

We offer you different routes for the ecotourism in our area. You can go up in the mountain or in the plains, go on a trip on the reserve river, observing rare species of birds and animals, admiring the marvellous panoramic views and interesting creations of the nature, by yourself or with a guided tour.

Natural Reserve Monte Soratte (Soratte Mountain)

Between the sweet and green hills of the Roman Tuscia, suddenly rises a unique mountain, lonely and singular: the Monte Soratte (Soratte Mountain). A fascinating and mysterious place that had always stimulate imagination and spirituality thanks to the Meri, huge karstic chasms making a open-air gap in the rock.
These scaring cracks, suddenly appearing in the middle of the woods populated by a flora and fauna full of species, were believed to be the gates of underworld for a long time.

Regional Natural Reserve Nazzano - Tevere Farfa

In the regional natural reserve Nazzano-Tevere Farfa it is possible to discover a naturalistic environment of a particular value. Natural routes and observing hut along the Tiber shores reveal the Park's aquatic life; the "Museo del Fiume" (River Museum) and the "Museo della Notte" (Night Museum) help to understand the ecosystem of this environment; the equipped areas allow you to spend a day in contact with nature; the boats "Airone" and "Martin Pescatore" go along the "Sentiero del Fiume" (route of the river).
Howhever, there are not missing historical and cultural attractions linked to the towns of Nizzano, Torrita Tiberina and Montopoli di Sabina. A world between earth and water…

Natural Park Valle del Treja (Treja Valley)

The Treja Valley, together with its slopes, hills and cliffs, is the result of a really long geological history, deeply influenced from the existence of some big volcanos in the north area of Rome. The park landscape is therefore characterized from the results of a complex geological history: the bottoms of the valley are tight, dominated by walls of gorges more or less steep and covered with vegetation.
If we follow the course of the river in the inside of the Park, the first most famous point of interest is with a doubt the cascate di Monte Gelato (Monte Gelato waterfalls), after which the river penetrates in a wild gorge until the cliff where the town of Mazzano Romano stands up.
We suggest you to visit Calcata, a real evocative medieval town. Clinging to a spur of rock, surrounded by walls that, its favourable position playing its part, gave in the past an impregnable protection. Nowadays the town is wonderfully preserved, the night lights give it a particular charm and it looks like the time stopped several centuries ago…
